Help for the Foreign Exchange App by New Change FX
The New Change Foreign Exchange (NCFX) application allows you to access real foreign exchange data. The NCFX rates are live mid-rates derived directly from bids and offers in the global institutional spot Foreign Exchange markets in real time and are therefore the most accurate FX reference rates available. The rates cannot be influenced by market users, being purely a reference price, and can therefore be relied upon as an accurate measure of Foreign Exchange rates at any time.
The NCFX application is available either from NCFX or alternatively you can download it direct from the Microsoft Office Store.
By using the NCFX rates it is easy to understand the cost of your foreign exchange deals, to understand the cost of purchasing foreign assets and to use accurate data when revaluing those foreign assets.
The NCFX application makes it simple for any business to access real, unbiased Foreign Exchange data. Whether you are a multi-national corporation, an asset manager, an e-commerce business, a currency trader or you need the data for academic purposes, the NCFX application makes accessing real, live market FX data completely simple. By eliminating manual data entry your business can save time, reduce operational risks and benefit from accurate FX data in all of your day-to-day functions.
By linking the New Change FX price to the prices of other assets it becomes simple to accurately understand what a non-base currency asset is worth.
The application comes in three versions, each with differing levels of functionality and database access.
- NCFX Standard – Live streaming prices, refreshed every 60 seconds. 3 months of historical data at one minute intervals
- NCFX Premium – Live streaming prices, refreshed every 60 seconds. 6 months of historical data at both one minute and ‘Tick’ (every 50 milliseconds) intervals
- NCFX Ultimate – Live streaming prices, refreshed every 60 seconds. 12 months of historical data at both one minute and ‘Tick’ intervals, plus access to the 4PM TWAP database, to help monitor any execution conducted at the 4PM fix. Transaction cost analysis tool, to enable a quick and easy assessment of the cost of FX transactions.

The New Change Foreign Exchange product benefits from a powerful Excel Add-In giving seamless access to accurate, independent Foreign Exchange price information in Excel. You will need to be a customer of New Change to activate these services., or alternatively you can download direct from the Microsoft App Store.

Data available via the add-in:

FX Data Ultimate
This application builds on the functionality of the previous two by adding the ability to access the NCFX daily TWAP data, and enabling users to conduct FX Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA) on multiple trade files.
The 4PM TWAP tile provides access to NCFX daily 4PM TWAPs, which are calculated as a time weighted average price from 15:57:30 – 16:02:30 (London Time) on the specified day. Simply click on the tile, select the cell you wish to download the data into on the worksheet, select the desired currency pair and day(s), and click submit.
Transaction Cost Analysis
The application enables users to run Transaction Cost Analysis on multiple trade files quickly and easily to assess the cost of their Foreign Exchange execution. To do this, click on the Get Price tile, from the main menu.
Then click on the Download Template tile:
The template details the information needed to complete a TCA report, with an example in line 2:
Trade Date: The date of the trade.
Value Date: Optional.
Trade Start Time: The time of trade execution. The application will search the database to the nearest second or millisecond, as specified on the timestamp.
Trade End Time: Optional, but the application allows users to search for time weighted average prices between two timestamps.
CUST side allocation: The direction of the trade from the user perspective.
Amount: The amount traded.
BUY CCY: The currency bought.
SELL CCY: The currency sold.
Spot Rate: The execution price of the trade on a spot basis.
Once a trade file has been prepared, copy and paste the trades below the template:
Then highlight all the relevant area (In this example, cells A1 – N13) and click Get Prices:
The application will request the data, then the additional columns will display the information required.
Market Rate: The NCFX Mid-rate at the time of execution
Difference: The difference between the spot rate and the NCFX rate. A negative number would indicate that the user has traded at a better price than the mid-rate.
USD Cost: The cost of the trade (from mid) in USD terms. The application automatically converts any non-USD currency amounts into USD for easy comparison / analytics.
USD Amount: The traded amount converted in to USD.
BP Cost: The cost of the trade in basis points.
You can use the Trade start time / Trade end time columns to create Time weighted Average Price (TWAP) analysis for the trades, in the event of the actual time of execution being unknown, for example. Using the same trade file, we create a Trade Start time five minutes prior to the execution time, and copy and paste the trades into the template:
Again, highlight the relevant area (cells A1 – N13) and click Get Prices
In this example, the market rate is now showing the TWAP price for each five-minute period specified.
